33rd annual Hummingbird Festival returns to Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center on Saturday

The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and Friends of Cheyenne Cañon invite residents and visitors to attend the 33rd Annual Hummingbird Festival on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center, 2120 S. Cheyenne Cañon Road.

This free, family-friendly event celebrates the seasonal return of hummingbirds to North Cheyenne Cañon Park with educational programs, guided bird walks, crafts, live raptors, face painting, local vendors and hands-on nature activities for all ages.

Festival highlights include hummingbird talks at 10:15 a.m. and 1 p.m., guided bird walks at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and a live raptor program presented by the Pueblo Raptor Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Attendees can also plant seeds for pollinator-friendly flowers to take home and enjoy interactive activities throughout the day.

"The Hummingbird Festival has become a cherished tradition for families and nature lovers in Colorado Springs," said Cathy Railton Parks Operations Administrator For North Cheyenne Cañon Park, "This event gives people the opportunity to connect with nature, learn about local wildlife, and celebrate the beauty and importance of our pollinators and open spaces."
