ATTORNEY GENERAL RAOUL CHARGES DOLSON TOWNSHIP CLERK WITH THEFT AND MISCONDUCT

January 29, 2026

Chicago - Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Clark County State's Attorney Kyle Hutson announced that charges have been filed against a township clerk for allegedly misusing township funds by spending them on personal expenses.

Kimberly Grable, 46, of Marshall, Illinois was charged on Wednesday with one count of Class X felony theft of government property, punishable by up to 30 years in prison, and one count of Class 3 felony official misconduct, punishable by up to five years in prison. Sentences are ultimately determined by the court.

Grable pleaded not guilty, and her next court date is scheduled for February 25.

"Public servants are entrusted with resources that allow them to fulfill their responsibilities on behalf of the taxpayers they serve, which is why they must be held to a higher standard," Raoul said. "It is an egregious violation of the public's trust when any elected official takes advantage of this responsibility for their own personal gain. My office is committed to ensuring these individuals are held accountable."

Raoul's office is prosecuting the case with Hutson's office. They allege that between April and August 2025, Grable used $162,497.53 in township funds for personal expenses, including paying off personal vehicles.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) led the investigation into Grable's alleged misconduct.

"The public must be able to trust those who work in public service, and the Illinois State Police will continue to work with the Attorney General's Office to investigate violations of the public trust," said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly.

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Assistant Attorney General Haley Bookhout is prosecuting the case for Raoul's Public Integrity Bureau.
