Our Members Organized and Missouri Stood with Public Schools

You stood up for Missouri's students, and voters stood with you. Thank you for turning thousands of conversations with union members, neighbors, and friends into victories for our public schools and our right to shape Missouri's future.

Together, we won 68 of 71 targeted Missouri House races and all targeted Senate races where MNEA endorsed or invested. Our union will enter the legislative session with two NEA members in the Missouri Senate and a historic number of NEA members in the Missouri House, educators who know what our students need.

Voters passed Amendment 6 with 60%, protecting Missourians' power to put issues on the ballot. They rejected Proposition A with 62% voting no, blocking the legislature's gerrymandered maps. Missourians sent a clear message: voters choose their representatives, not the other way around.

Corporate privatizers spent big to advance their agenda. Your organizing showed that their money cannot replace the trust educators earn in our communities.

Missouri NEA has been active in these efforts from the beginning. Our local leaders stepped up to share our union's message and bring about critical changes to our state government. With these victories, we will be able to increase accountability of our elected officials to hold them to the promise of "establishing and maintaining" free PUBLIC schools for all Missouri students. The efforts of our members have created a pathway to not just defend public education but go on the offense to ensure our students have the opportunities they deserve.
