New AgPro grant intended to help agricultural producers scale up for success by funding operation improvement or expansion
AUSTIN - Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), and the Texas Agriculture Finance Authority (TAFA) today announced the launch of the Agriculture Production Resource Opportunity (AgPRO) grant program, a new initiative designed to help Texas agricultural producers start, grow, or expand their operations.
"Texas thrives when producers have the tools, financing, and resources they need to succeed," Commissioner Miller said. "AgPRO grants will help bridge funding gaps, encourage economic growth, and ensure Texas agriculture remains strong, competitive, and resilient for generations to come."
AgPro helps farmers and ranchers grow and improve their operations by helping cover the cost of things they need-like new equipment, facility upgrades, or improvements that make day-to-day work more efficient. Whether it's expanding production, upgrading infrastructure, or putting in place better systems to get the job done, this program is designed to support the folks who are out there producing the food and fiber that fuel Texas, America, and the world.
Examples of eligible projects may include:
Grant awards will range from $5,000 to $500,000 and will be distributed through a competitive evaluation and selection process. Applicants must provide matching funds based on the size of the award:
"Whether it's a young producer getting started or a family operation investing in new technology to stay competitive, this program is about helping Texas producers build stronger operations," Miller said. "When our farmers and ranchers succeed, rural communities flourish and Texas agriculture will continue to lead the nation."
Applications for the AgPRO program will open April 1, with a submission deadline of May 14, 2026. Grant recipients will be required to comply with reporting requirements and submit reimbursement requests for approved expenses during the life of the grant.
