Implementation of the New Provisions of the Journalists Code of Serbia through the Practice of the Press Council’s Complaints Commission

Implementation of the New Provisions of the Journalists Code of Serbia through the Practice of the Press Council's Complaints Commission

The handbook Implementation of the New Provisions of the Journalists Code of Ethics of Serbia through the Practice of the Press Council's Complaints Commission was developed in 2025 through the co-operation between the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Press Council. This project is a continuation of the joint initiative to adopt the new Code, whose implementation started in January 2025. According to data from the first ten months of the implementation of the new Code, nearly 70 percent of complaints referred to violations of the new provisions in two chapters: Respect for Dignity and Responsibility of Journalists. This handbook aims to help journalists to resolve more easily some of the dilemmas they may encounter in their daily work, while also encouraging discussion within the profession on how to understand and apply certain principles contained in the Code, which should further improve the practice of the Complaints Commission. The publication is available in Serbian language.
