The Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) today announced that a Clackamas County grand jury has indicted former West Linn doctor David Farley on 11 felony charges involving 3 victims, following an investigation led by DOJ criminal investigators and prosecutors. Farley was arraigned at the Clackamas County Courthouse this afternoon.
The Clackamas County District Attorney's Office requested in December 2024 that the Oregon Department of Justice investigate this case. DOJ investigators and prosecutors conducted a comprehensive review of the evidence, pursued new leads, and presented the case to a grand jury on Oct. 2-3.
"Survivors and their families have shown remarkable courage throughout this process," said Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield. "This indictment reflects our commitment to justice. Our focus now-and always-is on the people whose lives were upended by this abuse."
Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth said he asked the Oregon DOJ to continue the investigation and prosecution of this case because the allegations made by Farley's former patients were deeply troubling and warranted a second review.
"The former patients had developed trust with the DOJ and placed their confidence in its review," Wentworth said. "I have dedicated my entire career to victim advocacy and the pursuit of justice."
Attorney General Rayfield emphasized that this case is about trust and accountability.
"When someone in a position of authority uses that position to harm others, it strikes at the core of who we are as a community," Rayfield said. "We owe it to survivors to follow the facts wherever they lead and ensure that no one is above the law."
The Oregon Department of Justice will continue to work closely with the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office as the case moves through the judicial process.
As in all criminal proceedings, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
