Tegucigalpa, Honduras,September 9, 2025.- As part of Transparency and Access to Information Month, on September 10 and 11, 2025, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) held a successful training event for managers and personnel who support the implementation of the Access to Information Policy (AIP).
The training focused on the standards of Publish What You Fund, which promotes transparency in development financing by publishing and monitoring allocated resources, as well as the International Aid Transparency Initiative(IATI), which promotes the standardization of data on financing and development projects, making information accessible, comparable, and useful for research, analysis, and strategic decision-making.
The event was opened by CABEI Executive President Gisela Sánchez, together with Gary Forster, CEO of Publish What You Fund, and Yemesrach Assefa Workie, Executive Director of IATI, who highlighted the relevance of these initiatives in strengthening transparency, accountability, and institutional openness. During the training, participants learned in detail about the work of these initiatives, the applicable methodologies, and the functioning of international transparency assessment rankings, strengthening their capacity to implement these standards within the Bank.
Although Publish What You Fund has not yet conducted a specific assessment of CABEI in its international measurements, this event, organized and promoted directly by the Bank, reflects its firm commitment to aligning its practices with global standards, consolidating proactive transparency and accountability as pillars of the Institutional Strategy 2025-2029. Within this framework, before the end of 2025, CABEI will begin disclosing information in accordance with IATI guidelines, with the aim of progressively moving toward greater openness in the coming years.
With this action, CABEI reaffirms its leadership in transparency and Access to information, promoting an institutional culture that converts data into knowledge, trust, and development for the entire region.
