The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department to Effective Public Management (DEPM), has opened the call for applications for the Inter-American Award for Innovation in Effective Public Management (PIGEP), 2026 edition, aimed at public institutions from different sectors at all national and subnational levels of OAS Member States.
The main objective of the Award is to contribute to strengthening democratic governance in the Americas by promoting improvements in public administrations and innovation in public management. This initiative promotes recognition, dissemination, and exchange of experiences that have already been implemented, with verifiable results, generating value and tangible benefits for citizens.
The 2026 edition places emphasis on innovation beyond technology, incorporating approaches centered on evidence, inclusion, institutional sustainability, and the potential for regional replicability. Since its creation in 2013, PIGEP has become a hemispheric benchmark for public innovation, with more than 700 experiences submitted by public institutions across the region, strengthening peer learning and serving as an input for comparative analysis, technical cooperation, and applied knowledge generation.
For the 2026 edition, institutions may submit up to three experiences, each under a single category, within one of the following areas:
• Innovation in Open Government
• Innovation in Digital Public Infrastructure
• Innovation in Process Management
• Innovation in Social Inclusion and Access to Rights
