ODOT seeking public comments on upcoming projects

SIDNEY (Friday, December 19, 2025) - The Ohio Department of Transportation District 7 is seeking public comments regarding the following projects:

Gettysburg Avenue Phase 3 Improvements, PID 119366 - UPDATE - The City of Dayton proposes to reconstruct Gettysburg Avenue, from West Second Street to Hoover Avenue. As part of this project, the City will remove the traffic signals at Gettysburg Avenue & West Second Street and Gettysburg Avenue & Oakridge Drive. Stop signs will be installed at West Second Street and Oakridge Drive. This project modification is necessary as these intersections do not meet the conditions to allow for signalization under a federal-aid project. The City of Dayton is holding a stakeholder meeting to solicit comments regarding several proposed projects, including the proposed change at these intersections, on January 21, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at 4303 West Third Street. The public is welcome to attend.

Stillwater River Recreation Trail Resurfacing, PID 119405 - The Miami Conservancy District proposes to resurface a segment of the Stillwater River Recreation Trail/Great Miami River Recreation Trail in the City of Dayton, from the Gayle B. Price Bridge to Wegerzyn Road (north of East Siebenthaler Avenue). The project is necessary to address deterioration of this trail segment. Additionally, the project will include new trail amenities, including bench swings, dog waste stations, and historical markers. The project is expected to begin Spring 2028 and require up to 3 months to construct.

West Third Street Safety Improvements, PID 123410 - The City of Dayton, in collaboration with ODOT, proposes to undertake safety improvements of West Third Street, from Abbey Avenue to James H. McGee Boulevard. As part of this project, West Third Street will be reduced from five to three lanes, with a designated parking lane on the north side and a cycle track on the south side. The project is expected to begin Fall 2027 and require up to 12 months to construct. The project is intended to encourage appropriate travel speeds and provide better accommodations for multi-modal users within the corridor. The City of Dayton is holding a stakeholder meeting to solicit comments regarding several proposed projects, including this one, on January 21, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at 4303 West Third Street.
