Kristy Caldwell Named to NACUBO Emerging Leaders Program

Kristy Caldwell, Ed.D., a business officer in North Carolina Central University's (NCCU) Information Technology Services, has been selected for the 2025-26 NACUBO Emerging Leaders Program, a national initiative that recognizes the next generation of higher education finance and administration leaders. She also received a $1,000 scholarship to support her participation.

With over 20 years of dedicated service at NCCU, Caldwell brings a distinctive combination of expertise in business operations, information systems and public administration. She is committed to enhancing organizational efficiency and strategic planning through the effective use of technology, while continuously strengthening both technical and communication skills. Before joining NCCU, Caldwell spent more than a decade in public radio. She holds master's degrees in public administration and information science, and a doctorate in higher education executive leadership.

The program, hosted by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), offers a yearlong leadership development experience for mid-level managers with strong potential for senior roles. Participants engage in online and in-person sessions, small group meetings and applied campus projects.

The curriculum emphasizes:

  • Strengthening personal leadership skills for current and future roles.
  • Examining the business office's impact on higher education.
  • Building cross-campus collaboration and exploring the sector's future.
  • Expanding professional networks with peers across the country.
