Student Taken Into Custody on Terroristic Threat Charges

DENTON, TX, Oct. 2, 2025 - The Denton Police Department has taken a male juvenile student into custody for making terroristic threats on social media.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, a Denton PD Student Resource Officer was notified of potentially threatening online communications that referenced Billy Ryan High School.

Denton PD immediately launched an investigation into the threats. Before the school day began, officers made contact with a Ryan High School student who was identified through the joint efforts of law enforcement and district staff. Following a thorough investigation, the student was taken into custody without incident on a charge of Terroristic Threat. He was transported to the Denton County Juvenile Detention Center.

Student safety remains the highest priority for Denton PD and the Denton Independent School District. The department is committed to thoroughly investigating all reported threats and holding individuals accountable to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
