Wyden, Warren Question FHFA Head Pulte Over His Charity's Suspicious Donation to Trump-Connected Entity

Washington, D.C. - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Banking Committee Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) questioned Federal Housing and Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte today over concerns about a 2023 payment made by a nonprofit he controlled to an entity connected to Donald Trump's legal defense.

Pulte's nonprofit organization, Team Pulte Inc., represented on a 2023 IRS filing that year that it donated $65,000 to another nonprofit organization called One World Love LLC for the purposes of "assitance [sic] to underserved people." Yet according to recent reporting, that IRS filing included major inaccuracies. Most glaring, it appears that no charity called One World Love LLC exists. Rather, it has been reported that a corporate entity called One World Love LLC was formed in August 2021 by a partner of the Binnall Law Group, a firm that represented Trump following the January 6th insurrection. One World Love LLC was dissolved in December 2023, the same year Pulte's group made its $65,000 "donation."

Writing to Pulte and Joshua Hinkle, current president and director of Team Pulte Inc., Senators Wyden and Warren requested documents and communications related to the $65,000 payment, a justification for the payment and a record of how the money was used, an explanation of the errors in Team Pulte's 2023 IRS filing, as well as information regarding any relationship between Team Pulte Inc. and the Binnall Law Group.

"According to Team Pulte Inc.'s 2023 Form 990, Team Pulte Inc. donated $65,000 to another nonprofit organization, One World Love LLC, for the purposes of 'assitance [sic] to underserved people.' Yet according to recent reporting, One World does not appear to be an actual nonprofit devoted to underserved individuals. Instead, One World was reportedly established by a law firm that represented President Trump," Senators Wyden and Warren wrote. "These facts raise serious concerns that your organization may have illegally funneled cash out of a charity to support President Trump.

The complete text of the letter to Pulte is below. Click for downloadable copies of the letters to Pulte and Hinkle.

Dear Director Pulte,

We write to request substantiation of certain information disclosed in an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 990 filed by the nonprofit Team Pulte Inc., at which you served as President. According to Team Pulte Inc.'s 2023 Form 990, Team Pulte Inc. donated $65,000 to another nonprofit organization, One World Love LLC ("One World") for the purposes of "assitance [sic] to underserved people." Yet according to recent reporting, One World does not appear to be an actual nonprofit devoted to underserved individuals. Instead, One World was reportedly established by a law firm that represented President Trump "in his efforts to prove election fraud and to avoid paying damages after the January 6" insurrection. These facts raise serious concerns that Team Pulte Inc. may have illegally funneled cash out of a charity to support President Trump.

According to public reporting, One World was formed in Sheridan, Wyoming by partner Jason Greaves at the Binnall Law Group in August 2021 and dissolved in December 2023. In November 2024, Team Pulte Inc. filed an IRS 990 for 2023 claiming to have provided a $65,000 cash grant to One World. The exact purpose of One World is unclear - reports suggest "it could have been [established] at the request of a client, or for a purpose tied to the firm"- though Team Pulte Inc. claimed that its donation to One World was to provide "assitance [sic.] to underserved people." The form clearly lists One World as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It also lists its address as 2251 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia.

Yet the information on Team Pulte Inc.'s 2023 Form 990 appears to include significant inaccuracies. First, according to documents filed with the State of Wyoming, the principal office address for One World was 717 Main Street Ste 300 in Alexandria, Virginia - not the 2251 Eisenhower Avenue address listed in Team Pulte Inc.'s form. Notably, when reporters asked an employee at the residential building actually located at 2251 Eisenhower Avenue about One World, the employee had no knowledge of the entity. The 717 Main Street address listed for One World on forms in Wyoming, meanwhile, does not exist: Alexandria does not have a Main Street; its primary thoroughfare is King Street. The 717 Main Street address, however, does have the same street number as Binnall Law Group - located at 717 King Street.

Second, One World is reportedly not, and has never been, a nonprofit organization. The IRS issues every business and tax-exempt organization an Employer Identification Number (EIN), a unique nine-digit number used to identify the entity. According to public reporting, the EIN disclosed by Team Pulte Inc. associated with One World does not match any known entity. Instead, One World appears to be a corporate, for-profit entity. Additionally, the only grant made to One World from any entity appears to be the one made by your organization in 2023.

Third, Binnall Law Group, the firm that established One World, provided substantial legal services to President Trump in the wake of the 2024 election and the January 6th insurrection. Jesse Binnall, a partner at Binnall Law Group, represented President Trump in the aftermath of the insurrection. Binnall also represented President Trump's 2024 campaign in Nevada, where he pushed false claims of voter fraud. Binnall Law Group partner Jason Greaves, meanwhile, was reportedly "enmeshed in several lawsuits representing Trump" and "key supporters and allies."

Between 2022 and 2024, the Binnall Law Group was paid more than $4.5 million in legal fees by Trump PACs. In fact, Team Pulte Inc. appears to have provided its donation to One World just as "the pressures of Trump's legal bills began to escalate."

Like all tax-exempt organizations Team Pulte Inc. is required to file an annual Form 990 with the IRS, with the return signed by a representative of the organization under penalty of perjury. The Form 990 from the year of Team Pulte's contribution to One World was signed by the organization's then-Treasurer Joshua Hinkle, and under the form's Schedule O, it was disclosed that Team Pulte Inc. board members had been "given an opportunity to review the form 990." As a 501(c)(3) "no part" of Team Pulte Inc. "net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual," and it must engage "primarily in activities that accomplish exempt purposes specified in section 501(c)(3)." Willfully making a false declaration under penalty of perjury is a federal crime, and willful and knowing delivery or disclosure to the IRS of a false or fraudulent document is also a federal crime.

To help us better understand the nature of Team Pulte Inc's donation to One World and the apparent inaccuracies included on Team Pulte Inc.'s 2023 Form 990, please respond to the following questions by April 24, 2026.

Summarize the process through which Team Pulte Inc. included this apparently inaccurate information on its 2023 Form 990.

  4. Why did Team Pulte Inc. list an EIN (87-2232070) for One World Love LLC when that EIN is not associated with any nonprofit by the name of One World Love LLC? Summarize the process through which Team Pulte Inc. included this apparently inaccurate information on its 2023 Form 990.

  5. Provide a summary with specific examples of how the grant to One World Love LLC was used. Summarize the process through which Team Pulte Inc. identified One World Love LCC as an organization that provided assistance to underserved people.

  6. Why did Team Pulte Inc. list One World Love LLC's address as 2251 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, Virginia, on its 2023 Form 990? Summarize the process through which Team Pulte Inc. included this apparently inaccurate information on its 2023 Form 990.
