Italy endorses statement condemning attacks in Sudan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani supports the statement on the crisis in Sudan, promoted by Germany and signed by German Minister Johann Wadephul and the majority of European partners at Foreign Minister level.

The text condemns in the strongest terms the intensification of attacks against civilians and humanitarian workers, including those targeting World Food Programme facilities and convoys. Such acts are unacceptable and constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law. Italy, together with its partners, strongly calls for accountability for all violations and urges all parties to immediately cease hostilities.

Italy reiterates its support for regional and international mediation efforts and will continue to work, within the EU and G7, to promote a political solution that will end the suffering of the Sudanese people and restore stability and security in the country.
