Shepherd University Celebrates Faculty with Annual Awards

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - Shepherd University recognized faculty during the 2026 Faculty Awards luncheon on May 4.

Dr. Richie Stevens, associate provost for faculty affairs, said the annual awards are important because they highlight the great work happening at Shepherd.

"We are proud of the dedication of our full-time and adjunct faculty," Stevens said. "They excel in all that they do each semester to provide quality education to our students, both in and out of the classroom."

The 2026 Faculty Awards are:

• Outstanding Service Award: Dr. Zachary Musselman, Associate Professor of Environmental Science
• Outstanding Scholar Award: Dr. Weidong Liao, Professor of Computer and Information Sciences
• Outstanding Advisor Award: Dr. Craig Cline, Associate Professor of Social Work
• Outstanding Teacher Award: Dr. Albina Laskovtsov, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice
• Outstanding Adjunct-Instruction Award: Dr. James Koshar, Business, Accounting, Economics, and Finance
• Mentzer Award for Inspirational Teaching: Dr. Zachary Musselman, Associate Professor of Environmental Science
• Stubblefield Civility Award: Dr. Larry Daily, Professor of Psychology

Shepherd University recognized faculty and staff for their work over the past year with three annual award ceremonies.

The Faculty Awards Ceremony takes place each spring to honor Shepherd faculty for their achievements, dedication, and success.
