Governor Braun Honors Five Hoosiers at Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration

INDIANAPOLIS - Governor Mike Braun on Tuesday recognized outstanding Hoosiers whose leadership and service have strengthened communities across Indiana at the Governor's Reception at the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration. The event was hosted by the Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) in partnership with Indiana Black Expo, Inc. (IBE).

Governor Mike Braun presented awards to five Hoosiers in recognition of their dedication to service, leadership, empowerment, and improving the quality of life for all Hoosiers.

"The Governor's Reception is an opportunity to recognize outstanding Black Hoosiers whose leadership, service, and dedication continue to create meaningful impact across communities," said Gov. Braun. "Each of this year's recipients represents the commitment to service that helps strengthen and improve the quality of life for our great state."

The 2026 Governor's Reception Award Recipients included:

• Reginald Henderson
• Carolene Mays
• B.R. Lane
• Quinn Buckner

In addition, Tammy Bibbs, an employee of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, was recognized with the Harold O. Hatcher Award, which honors an individual whose dedication, leadership, and service exemplify the values and legacy of ICRC's first Executive Director, Harold O. Hatcher.
