Mercyhealth Family Medicine Residency Programs graduate physicians

In June, nine doctors graduated from the Mercyhealth Family Medicine Residency Program, and one doctor graduated from the Mercyhealth Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. The programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

The graduates included the first graduating class from the Family Medicine Residency Program at Mercyhealth Lake Geneva.

After graduating from medical school, resident physicians take part in a residency program in their chosen specialty. As licensed physicians, they train under the supervision of experienced physicians to improve their skills in providing excellent care to patients. Upon completing their residency, they are qualified to practice medicine independently without further supervision.

A medical fellowship provides advanced training to doctors who have already completed residencies. It allows them to gain expertise in a subspecialty.

The Mercyhealth Family Medicine Residency Program fosters innovation while incorporating traditional family medicine, minor surgeries, obstetrical/gynecological care, and pediatrics into an educational process. The primary goal of the program is to equip future family medicine practitioners with the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to provide high-level patient care while improving the health of individuals and communities. This year's Mercyhealth Family Medicine Residency graduates include:

  • Kathryn Hockensmith, DO
  • Nicole Janssen, MD
  • Sobia Khalil, MD
  • Masanosuke Kinoshita, MD
  • Wesley West Ortiz, MD
  • Farah Shaukat, MD
  • Mansour Shirzai, MD
  • Tehreem Siddiqui, MD
  • James West, MD

This year's Mercyhealth Sports Medicine Fellowship graduate is Gilberto Enriquez, MD.

Mercyhealth is also welcoming the Class of 2029, which includes seven doctors at Mercyhealth South, 849 Kellogg Ave., Janesville, and two doctors at Mercyhealth Lake Geneva, 350 Peller Rd., Lake Geneva.
