SR 253 resurfacing is underway north of Bainbridge
What: A contractor has started resurfacing about 12.5 miles of State Route 253. Flagmen will guide traffic through the construction zone so please obey their instructions, slow down as you approach the work area and be prepared to stop. This Georgia Department of Transportation project was awarded in June to lowest qualified bidder Reames and Son Construction Co. Inc. The awarded contract is just under $4 million and the project is scheduled to be complete in late spring 2026.

Where: Decatur County, SR 253 from north of US 84/SR 1 Business to the Baker County line.

When: Currently underway. Expect to see crews on site Monday through Friday, weather permitting.
