EVACUATION ORDERS LIFTED
Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) lifted all evacuation orders and warnings for the Holomua fire, allowing people to return to zones. However, advisories remain in effect due to smoke impacts. MEMA issued evacuation orders just after 2 p.m. today for multiple areas in Paia via EAS, WEA, Genasys, MEMA Alerts and a siren; Maui Police Department had conducted door-to-door evacuations prior to MEMA's evacuations. Evacuation sites are in the process of closing. Haiku Community Center has closed.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY AND ROAD CLOSURES
Non-local traffic is asked to avoid Paia.
Closures include:
• Baldwin Avenue grom Paia Gym to Haliimaile Road
• Holomua Road
FIRE UPDATE
MFD estimated the Holomua fire to be 300 acres as of approximately 5:30 p.m. Fire progress has been stopped. Containment estimates are not available. The brush fire of about four acres was first reported near Holomua Road and Baldwin Avenue at 1:30 p.m.
BUDGET MEETING CANCELED
The County Budget meeting slated for tonight in Paia has been canceled due to the fire.
