The Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA) brings together 52 member countries from all overthe world annually to discuss progress and activities ofimproving communities and to discusssolutions for the challenges faced.
This year's meeting took place in Banda Aceh City in Indonesia between the 4th and 5th of September 2025.
Among the key issues discussed was how to help themedical students from war-torn countries like Sudanand Gaza, among others, to enable them to continue withtheir academic progress.
IUIU was applauded for its contribution in enabling Sudanese students from various universities to continue with their academic progress during the time of war.
Since the war broke out in Sudan, IUIU has enabled medical students and other students to continue with their studies at IUIU. More than 200 students have so far benefited from this arrangement.
The Ugandan Delegation was led by the vice rector of finance and administration, Prof.Dr. Mpaata Abdul Kaziba, the Academic Affairs council committee member, Prof. Kagim Magid, the University Medical Officer, Dr. Naziru Rashid, and Other IMAU members, including Dr. Ayub Twaaha and Dr. Ssaka Musitafah.
During the council meeting, the annual activity report for the Islamic Medical Association of Uganda (IMAU), the FIMA HIV resource center report, and the FIMA East African Regional reports were all presented by the IMA-Uganda's delegation.
