WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Dave McCormick (R-PA) announced today that the application portal for Pennsylvanians interested in his nomination to one of the four U.S. service academies is now open. In addition to applying directly to their service academy of choice, applicants also need to secure a congressional nomination to be eligible for appointment to a U.S. service academy.
"Service academies produce some of the finest leaders this nation has ever seen, and the nomination process is a critical part of ensuring that tradition continues," said Senator McCormick. "As a West Point graduate and combat veteran, I understand firsthand the transformative impact an academy education can have - not just on a career, but on a life. I look forward to identifying the next class of outstanding young men and women from Pennsylvania who are ready to answer the call to serve."
Members of Congress are responsible for nominating candidates for appointment to four of the U.S. service academies - the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Candidates applying to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy do not need a congressional nomination for appointment.
More information about the application process is available here.
