Behind the Sculpture: The Story of Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman’s Statue and Renowned Sculptor Tom Tsuchiya
Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman and renowned sculptor Tom Tsuchiya share the art, stories and Cincinnati history behind a beloved local landmark.
What an incredible afternoon celebrating the art, storytelling, and legacy behind one of Cincinnati's most beloved figures!
Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman and renowned sculptor Tom Tsuchiya (MSJ Adjunct in the Department of Creative Arts) took us behind the scenes of the creation of Marty's statue on Saturday, September 19, in the Jeff Wyler Family Hall of Fame Theater. From 3:30-4:45 p.m., attendees enjoyed an entertaining and fascinating look at the artistic processmfrom the initial concept to the finished sculpture and the stories that brought this remarkable project to life. Additional fun fact is that Olivia Faillace MSJ Fine Arts graduate worked with Tom on the sculpture.
The experience was made even more special with an autographed mini-poster signed by both Marty and Tom, and everyone had the opportunity to pose for a photograph with them in front of Marty's statue.
It truly was a delightful afternoon filled with art, history, baseball, storytelling, and two very special Cincinnati personalities. What a wonderful way to celebrate the talent and creativity that bring our community's stories to life!
