Director-General of European Affairs Department co-chairs the 3rd Thailand - Belgium Policy Dialogue
On 5 November 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and Ms. Birgit Stevens, Deputy Secretary-General for Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, co-chaired the 3rd Thailand - Belgium Policy Dialogue in Brussels, Belgium.
Both sides discussed ways to promote more cooperation in trade and investment sector, particularly in biotechnology and logistics, including to enhance cooperation for investment in the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), as well as the exchange of personnel in academic fields, including staff training cooperation between the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Egmont Institute for International Relations. The Belgium side expressed its readiness to support the Thai - EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations and Thailand's accession to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In addition, both sides also exchanged views on human rights issues, and regional and global situations.
On 4 November 2028, the Director-General also visited and had a meeting with executives of the Katoen Natie company in Antwerp. Katoen Natie is one of the top transportation and logistics companies in Europe, which has invested in Thailand since 2000 by opening centers in the Laem Chabang Port Project (Pluak Daeng and Map Ta Phut districts) and the Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, respectively. Both sides discussed the future direction of business development in strategic locations in Thailand.
