Congresswoman Foushee’s Statement on the Passing of Former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt

DURHAM, NC (December 18, 2025) - Today, U.S. Representative Valerie Foushee (NC-04) released the following statement on the passing of Jim Hunt, who served as Governor of North Carolina for 16 years.

"I am deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Hunt, a tireless fighter for North Carolinians and a true public servant. His commitment to improving public education and constant care for children in our state is something I will always carry with me and is why he will forever be remembered as the Education Governor."
