USMEF Partners with Mexican Importer to Promote New Pork Product

Published: Dec 20, 2025

USMEF partners with importers in Mexico on the development and promotion of new value-added products that utilize U.S. pork. In some cases, USMEF works directly with the importer on the development of a new product and sometimes USMEF's role focuses on product promotion.

SuKarne ‒ one of Mexico's largest importers of U.S. pork ‒ recently developed a new ready-to-cook product made with U.S. pork called shredded pork ham. USMEF helped launch the new product through promotional activations at 14 supermarket locations at major markets in several regions. USMEF support included product samplings, purchase incentives and promotional contests.

"A key part of the promotion was the messaging delivered by the sampling staff, emphasizing that the product is nutritious, affordable, easy to cook, and highly versatile for a wide range of dishes such as tacos, flautas, tortas, tostadas and more," said Rigoberto Trevińo, USMEF-Mexico trade manager.
