26 Feb 2026

Roundtrip, an all-in-one platform for business travel management, reports the most popular destinations booked by Italian business travellers in 2025 and provides an outlook on domestic and outbound travel trends in 2026.

In 2025, domestic business travel continued to be a key focus for Italian companies, with data from Roundtrip indicating that bookings in Italy dominated the total business travel volume. The most booked were Milan, Rome, and Rimini. The average length of stay was 2 nights, and the average daily rate was 135 EUR.

The top five outbound destinations for Italian business travelers in 2025 were Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Spain. The average daily rate was 143 EUR, with stays averaging three nights.

Sergiu Les, Managing Director of Roundtrip, comments: "The business travel industry has rebounded, with many companies prioritizing trips to foster in-person connections and traveling as much as, or even more than they did before 2019. The GBTA reportconfirms that European corporate travel spending is expected to top $448 billion in 2026, setting a new record for the industry. Most business travelers continue to view tripsas crucial for building and developing relationships."

Looking ahead to 2026, with the most popular international destinations remaining consistent. Domestically, Italy remains the leading destination for business trips, with Rome, Milan, and Bologna being the most favored cities.

Sergiu Les explains: "Italy is a vibrant hub for business travel, hosting major events that attract not only tourists but also businesses. From internationally renowned fashion weeks, food and hospitality expos to leading design and furniture fairs, manufacturing showcases, energy summits - and even the Olympic Games - Italy's major events offer powerful platforms for networking, partnership, and sustainable business growth."

The most popular outbound destinations remain consistent with those most frequently booked in 2025, with Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Spain continuing to rank as the top five.

The longest average stays are recorded in the United States, particularly in cities like Los Angeles and New York, where travelers typically spend up to seven nights with an average nightly rate of 178EUR. Germany sees the highest average nightly rates at 249EUR, with key business destinations including Frankfurt am Main, Düsseldorf, and Berlin.

"Despite reports that entry requirements for travellers to the United States may become more complex, we continue to see strong interest in business trips to the country.

For 2026, experts forecast growth of the business travel market of up to 8.2%. To meet this rising demand, it's essential for businesses to have access to flexible and comprehensive travel solutions. Roundtrip offers accommodations in 2.9 million hotels worldwide, tickets from 450 airlines, transfers in 160 countries, car rentals, and train tickets, all available in one platform", says Sergiu Les.
