Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Retrofit in Connecticut

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the continued retrofitting of municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) in Trumbull and Stratford for October 2026

A Notice to Proceed was issued to the contractor on Monday September 21, 2026, and the project is scheduled to be completed on June 12, 2027.

The locations included are:

  • Route 8 at Route 127 in Trumbull,
  • Route 15 at Main Street in Stratford
  • I-95 Exit 32 on-ramp at West Broad Street in Stratford

The purpose of this project is to retrofit stormwater quality that satisfies the requirements of EPA's consent order and CTDEEP MS4 permit. The consent order requires CTDOT to reduce the volume and improve the quality of stormwater discharging from CTDOT drainage systems.

The work is being performed by our Contractor, Guerrera Construction Company, Inc.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect temporary lane and shoulder closures of Route 15, 8 and I-95 in Trumbull and Stratford as work progresses throughout the project. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project includes days and nights from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday to Friday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain safe speeds when driving in these areas.
