Vogel Announces $4.75 Million in Community Improvement Grants for Beaver, Butler and Lawrence Counties

HARRISBURG - Sen. Elder Vogel Jr. (R-47) announced today more than $4.75 million in state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants will be awarded to six projects benefiting Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties.

"Continuing to improve assets in our communities is an invaluable way to ensure they last for generations to come," Vogel said. "I was pleased to support these critical projects."

Beaver County

The Beaver County Career and Technology Center received $250,000 to perform critical infrastructure upgrades including replacing its existing roof and expanding its auto shop.

Betters Real Estate Holding LP received $750,000 for the Bet-Tech Industrial Park Warehouse project which seeks to develop select former industrial parcels by constructing the bituminous access roadway, stormwater management system, water system, sanitary sewer system, and electric, communication and gas service.

The Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls received $500,000 to perform extensive repairs including replacing its roof, installing air conditioning, replacing aged electrical wiring, upgrading internet capabilities, repairing exterior windows to save on heating and cooling costs, renovating the auditorium feature and updating the third floor ballroom space with modern fixtures and ADA accessibility.

Geneva College received $1.5 million for the Old Main project which includes a comprehensive update to its iconic Old Main with renovations to the entrance, elevator systems, office space, ADA bathrooms, classrooms and auditorium.

Butler County

Jackson Township received $250,000 for its lake conservation project which includes conducting a feasibility study of necessary repairs and permit procurements to maintain the dam; demolishing existing reservoir structures in disrepair; paving of current access road and proximate parking areas; constructing an outdoor amphitheater, concession, restrooms, and equipment storage facility; and forming a trail system around the lake.

Lawrence County

Irongate Industrial, LLC received $1.5 million for the AMR Former International Metals project to complete critical renovations including repairing and modernizing existing infrastructure, rebuilding the blast furnace to safely resume operations, installing semi-robotic refining systems, updating equipment, and improving site utilities to ensure efficiency, safety and competitiveness. This will allow for the facility to reopen.

RACP is a commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
