Rep. Trey Kelley Named Secretary of House Rules Committee

ATLANTA - Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) today appointed State Representative Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown) to serve as the secretary of the House Rules Committee.

"I am grateful to Speaker Burns for appointing me to serve in this important role on this powerful committee," said Rep. Kelley. "I look forward to working alongside Chairman Parrish on this committee as it plays a vital role in determining which legislation reaches the House floor for a vote and, ultimately, what policies impact Georgians. I am eager to continue advancing legislation that improves the lives of citizens across our state and strengthens all of our communities."

The House Rules Committee oversees the flow of legislation from passage in committee and makes the determination of what bills should be debated and voted on the House floor.

Representative Trey Kelley represents the citizens of District 16, which includes Polk County, as well as a portion of Paulding County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Health and Ways & Means committees, as well as the Appropriations Subcommittee on Judicial. He also serves as Secretary of the House Rules Committee. He also serves on the Code Revision, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Higher Education and Judiciary committees. He is also an Ex-Officio member of the Appropriations Committee.
