City Services Independence Day Schedule

In observance of Independence Day, City of Grand Prairie administrative offices will be closed Friday, July 3, 2026. Holiday hours for other city services are as follows:

  • The Landfill and Garbage Collection - The landfill will be open Friday, June 3. Garbage will be picked up Friday, June 3 as usual. This is not a holiday that causes a shift in garbage collection. The landfill will be closed Saturday, July 4. No commercial or industrial garbage will be collected on July 4. Commercial customers who are normally scheduled on Saturday will have collection Friday, July 3.

  • Libraries - closed July 3-4., all libraries have bookdrops for the return of items after hours. Items can also be returned to the Lake Parks Book Locker 24/7. The eBranch is always open at gptx.org/library, with ebooks, music, online learning and streaming media. The Main Library, 901 Conover Dr., will be open July 3-4, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. as a "Quiet Zone." Avoid the noise from fireworks in a quiet space. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Computer use, book checkout and sensory activities will be available.

  • Water bill payment offices - closed

  • Charley Taylor, Tony Shotwell and Dalworth Recreation Centers - closed

  • The Summit - closed

  • Epic Rec - closed

  • Prairie Lakes Golf Course - open with normal hours

  • Tangle Ridge Golf Club - open with normal hours

  • Loyd Park - open with normal hours

  • Outdoor Pools and Splash Factory Water Playground - open 1-6 p.m. July 3-4

  • Kirby Creek Natatorium - July 3: lap swim 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and open swim 1-6 p.m. July 4: lap swim 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and open swim 1-6 p.m.

  • Epic Waters Indoor/Outdoor Water Park - open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. July 3-4

  • Animal Services - closed July 3-4. Animal Services will be open Sunday, July 5, 8 a.m.-noon for return to owner pets who may have run away during fireworks festivities.

  • Municipal Court - closed

  • Tourist Information Center - open July 3 (closing at 3 p.m.), closed July 4
