AIA Iowa Awards Southeast Polk New 6-7 Middle School Project

(Des Moines, IA) - The Weitz Company, along with our project partners Southeast Polk Community School District, FRK Architects + Engineers, and Modus, are proud to announce that the Southeast Polk New 6-7 Middle School project has been recognized with the 2025 Excellence in Energy Efficient Design Award at the AIA Iowa Convention earlier today. The award celebrates projects that demonstrate outstanding energy performance, with the new middle school achieving an impressive 62% annual energy savings compared to the Commercial New Construction (CNC) program baseline.

During the award presentation at the convention luncheon, key project stakeholders, partners, and design leaders were recognized with an award plaque for their collaborative role in bringing the project to life.
