"I'm voting NO on the Senate proposal. This "deal" is nothing more than an empty promise of a vote that may never happen and a polite reminder to the President to follow laws already on the books. It fails entirely to address the health care crisis Americans are facing.
Premiums are already skyrocketing. Republicans' refusal to extend crucial Affordable Care Act tax credits will cause premiums to climb even further, with many Americans seeing their health care costs double or even triple. And, as a result of Republicans' Big, Ugly Law, millions will lose their health care coverage altogether.
My House Democratic colleagues and I have been clear from day one of this shutdown that we're fighting for everyday Americans - while Republicans prioritize tax cuts for billionaires. While I'm eager to reach an end to the Trump shutdown, the Senate bill is deeply disappointing. Americans deserve better."
