Duckworth Visits Revolution Workshop to Highlight $500,000 Investment She Secured to Support Workforce Training

[CHICAGO, IL] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today visited Revolution Workshop to see firsthand how the $500,000 in federal funding she successfully secured is helping expand the Workshop's Pre-Apprenticeship and Job Training Program, a program that helps Illinoisans develop key skills needed to enter the construction workforce where they can help revitalize under-resourced communities in Chicago. As the United States continues to face a shortage of workers in the skilled trades, this program is helping close this gap in the constructor sector by giving disadvantaged Illinoisans the tools they need to be competitive in this job market while making it easier to build across Chicagoland. "Revolution Workshop is proof that when we create pathways to good-paying construction jobs, we can uplift and build entire communities," said Duckworth. "Our nation faces a shortage of workers in the skilled trades and an ongoing housing crisis, and this training program is exactly what is needed to solve both those challenges. I'm proud I was able to successfully deliver this federal funding for such a transformational organization, and I'm even prouder to see this investment in action today."

Chicago's Revolution Workshop provides training and job placement in the construction sector to eager and dedicated individuals who otherwise, likely would not receive this training in underserved communities. They use employer and union partners to develop their pipeline of skilled, collaborative and reliable construction workers, giving all trainees the tools and resources needed to succeed and enter the workforce.
