Linn County Worksite Wellness Committee Hosts Roundtable: “Addressing Cancer in the Workplace”

LINN COUNTY, Iowa - According to a report from the Iowa Cancer Registry, Iowa is second in the nation when it comes to new cancer diagnoses. Cancer is a burden for individual patients as well as their communities, including their places of work. An upcoming roundtable aims to equip business owners with tools to confront cancer in the workplace. It will teach employers how to:

  • reduce cancer risk through prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle choices
  • navigate legal obligations regarding medical leave of absence
  • support employees with a cancer diagnosis with clarity and compassion

Who should attend?

This roundtable discussion is for any and all employers/business owners in Linn County. The Linn County Worksite Wellness Committee especially welcomes small business owners.

F ree Worksite Wellness Asssessment

At the roundtable, employers will have the opportunity to enroll in a free Worksite Wellness Assessment. The assessment will identify successful policies already in place at a worksite as well as areas for improvement. Employers can use this powerful tool to identify actionable steps that will simultaneously improve the health of their workforce and their business.

All Linn County employers are eligible to participate. The committee is especially interested in working with small businesses. Those unable to attend the event may still access the assessment by contacting Kristy Knight at [email protected].
