Cuba Denounces US Doctrine of "Peace Through Strength"

Harare, June 8, 2026 - Cuba today denounced the doctrine of "peace through strength," promoted by the United States government, as a violation of the UN Charter and International Law.

Speaking during the general debate of the 4th meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter (GADC), Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodríguez Perdomo warned that in the very complex scenario facing several of its members, including Cuba, the United States is disregarding the value of the United Nations and multilateralism.

The Deputy Foreign Minister denounced the recent filing of criminal charges against the leader of the Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, which he described as a morally infamous, legally arbitrary, illegitimate, and fraudulent act.

Rodríguez Perdomo stated that we have warned that a military aggression against Cuba would provoke a bloodbath, as it would not be met with surrender, but rather with combat to the bitter end.

He explained that in the face of this brutal and genocidal policy, we call on the international community, particularly the GADC, to mobilize to prevent military aggression against Cuba and confront the extreme tightening of the blockade with the energy embargo, which could provoke a humanitarian catastrophe, suffering, and death.

The Foreign Minister of Zimbabwe, the Honorable Amon Murwira, inaugurated the 4th meeting of National Coordinators of the countries that make up the Group, created in 2021 to promote compliance with and strict adherence to the letter and spirit of the UN Charter, cooperation, and solidarity.

Comprised of 21 countries, the GADC holds annual meetings of its National Coordinators, with previous editions in Venezuela (2023), Iran (2024), and Russia (2025).
