Krishnamoorthi Bipartisan Anti-Fraud Bill Passes House Unanimously

WASHINGTON - On Monday, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed the bipartisan Federal Fraud Prevention Workforce Training Act, legislation led by Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-WI) to strengthen fraud prevention efforts across the federal government and better safeguard taxpayer dollars.

The legislation passed the House by a vote of 393-0 and would establish a government-wide training program to equip federal employees with the tools to identify fraud risks, implement proven anti-fraud practices, and improve oversight of taxpayer-funded programs.

"Every dollar lost to fraud is a dollar that cannot be used to serve the American people," said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. "Fraud and waste in government are a central concern of the American people, and this bipartisan legislation will give federal employees the tools they need to identify fraud and avoid spending mistakes before they happen. Accountability to the American people is not optional - it is required. I'm proud the House came together in a bipartisan way to protect taxpayer dollars and strengthen public trust in government."

The Federal Fraud Prevention Workforce Training Act directs the U.S. Department of the Treasury, in coordination with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), to establish a standardized, government-wide training program focused on fraud risk identification, implementation of leading anti-fraud practices, and proper use of existing tools such as the Do Not Pay system. The training resources would also be made available to state and local governments that administer federal funds.
