CHICAGO, May 20, 2026 - City of HopeĀ® Cancer Center Chicago, part of one of the nation's largest cancer treatment and research organizations, has welcomed Sana Chaudry, M.D., M.B.B.S., a pulmonary and critical care physician, to its medical staff. With a particularly high incidence rate of lung cancer diagnosed annually across the Midwest, the addition of Dr. Chaudry strengthens City of Hope's efforts to advance lung cancer care across the region through specialized expertise.
A multilinguist fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi, Dr. Chaudry specializes in the evaluation and management of pulmonary complications related to cancer and treatment. She has advanced the field with several peer-reviewed studies on topics such as non-small cell lung cancer and indeterminate lung nodules. She plans to continue her research with clinical trials aimed at improving lung cancer outcomes for patients.
"Being the first woman in my family to pursue a career in medicine shaped my commitment to excellence, lifelong learning and advocacy for patients," said Dr. Chaudry. "At City of Hope I have found a health system that allows me to continue these passions. Thanks to City of Hope's leadership in cancer care and investment in advanced diagnostics and therapies, I can deliver specialized pulmonary care to our communities where lung cancer is a significant and growing concern."
Dr. Chaudry will also play a key role in further strengthening the Chicago-area Rapid Undiagnosed Lung Nodule Program, a streamlined, multidisciplinary care pathway designed to quickly address complex and indeterminate pulmonary nodules (small lung lesions where the risk of cancer is not yet clear).
"Our Rapid Undiagnosed Lung Nodule Program was designed to move quickly and decisively for patients facing uncertain and potentially serious diagnoses," said Pete Govorchin, president of City of Hope Cancer Center Chicago. "With Dr. Chaudry joining our team, we are enhancing our ability to evaluate complex lung nodules earlier, reducing diagnosis delays and giving patients the best possible chance for timely, effective care."
Dr. Chaudry earned her medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, and completed a general surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She went on to complete an internal medicine residency at AMITA St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
