Project updates for the week of Sept. 15, 2025

Anderson County

Palestine crews are scheduled to perform repairs on FM 3309 as well as FM 1892. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Anderson County construction projects updates:

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.4 miles SE of SH 155, SE to Cuney
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $55.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2026

Traffic is currently being switched to the new pavement on the westbound lane, while the contractor works on the eastbound lane. The contractor is currently building the new eastbound roadbed. The contractor is also constructing driveways and ditches. They are also scheduled to continue working on the bridge deck and rail on the eastbound bridge. The contractor will also finalize ditches and slopes. The project consists of expansion to a four-lane roadway with new bridges across the Neches River.

Cherokee County

Cherokee County construction projects updates:

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.5 miles E of the Anderson County line (CR 3509) to FM 347 in Jacksonville
  • Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, INC.
  • Cost: $168 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2028

The following county road intersections will be closed within the project limits:

  • CR 3410/CR 3416 intersections: local traffic will need to use the detour route to FM 855
  • CR 3306/CR 3407 intersections: local traffic will need to use the posted detour route.

The contractor is scheduled to continue work on the eastbound side through Cuney. Preparation of the right of way on the westbound side will also continue on the westside of the road. The contractor is also scheduled to continue drainage work, bridge work, and clearing utilities. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work limits. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph throughout the project limits. The project consists of expansion to a four-lane roadway with new bridges, grading, asphalt, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage. (This project is located in Cherokee County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

SH 204

  • Limits: From SH 110 to the Rusk County line
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $22.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

This week, the contractor is scheduled to continue laying asphalt, placing topsoil, and seeding. Crews will also continue SW3P operations. Motorists should drive with caution in the work zone. Lane closures are anticipated. This project consists of adding a super-two highway section.

US 79

  • Limits: Rusk County line, southwest to 0.160 mile east of SH 110
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $4.25 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2025

The contractor is scheduled to lay rumble strips a begin cutting bridge joints. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph throughout the project limits. This project consists of rehabilitation of the existing road, including pavement repair, resurfacing, metal beam guard fence, and pavement markings.

SH 110

  • Limits: 2.7 miles north of Rusk
  • Contractor: Red Barron
  • Cost: $1.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

No work scheduled this week. This project is a change order to a bridge preventative maintenance project that consists of installing a temporary soil nail wall and a permanent retaining wall to address slope failure on SH 110. Motorists should drive with caution when work is in progress.

US 69 and FM 2493 Grade Separated Interchange Realignment

  • Limits: US 69 - From 0.5 mi N of FM 2493 W to 0.5 mi south of FM 2493 E; FM 2493 - From 0.3 mi south of FM 344 to US 69 near Bullard
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $38.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

The contractor is has a planned lane closure on US 69 in the northbound, outside lane through the project limits. Motorists should drive with caution. The project consists of a grade separated interchange and realignment of FM 2493 West of US 69.

Gregg County

Longview crews are scheduled to continue mill and inlay operations on US 259 N. The work will be done in the north and southbound lanes from US 80 to Young St. Motorists should expect lane closures while work is in progress.

Gregg County construction projects updates:

US 80

  • Limits: Lake Divernia east to FM 3272
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge
  • Cost: $3.43 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: September 2025

The project consists of removing four inches of existing surface and replacing with new hot mix. The project will also include striping and pavement markings. This week, the contractor is scheduled to lay new asphalt.

Young St. - City of Longview

  • Limits: Mobberly Ave. to MLK Blvd.
  • Contractor: C&W Southern, LLC
  • Cost: $620,200
  • Anticipated Completion Date: October 2025

This project consists of constructing sidewalks and handicap accessible ramps on both sides of Mobberly Ave. This week, the contractor will be clearing right of way and pouring concrete for the sidewalk on the north side of the street. If completed, crews will then switch to the south side of the street.

SH 135 - Kilgore Traffic Circle

  • Limits: Traffic circle in Kilgore to Rusk County line
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge
  • Cost: $8.37 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: September 2025

This project involves rebuilding the traffic circle and the entire width of the roadway to the Rusk County line. This week, crews are scheduled to place the final striping and work on punch list items.

I-20 Resurfacing

  • Limits: Sabine River bridge to the Harrison County line
  • Contractor: Grey Sky Construction LLC
  • Cost: $2.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: September 2025

This project consists of milling asphalt off the surface and placing new hot mix asphalt from the Sabine River bridge to the Harrison County line. Work will be done in both the east and westbound lanes. Work is scheduled to be performed during overnight hours. One lane will be closed at a time. The contractor is scheduled to lay asphalt beginning Sunday night, September 14th. The work will be alternated from the east and westbound lanes.

Henderson County

Athens crews will be performing overlay on FM 2613. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Also, crews will perform sign maintenance, pothole repair, and herbicide operations at various locations throughout the county.

Henderson County construction projects updates:

FM 316 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From FM 1861 to US 175
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $7.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The project is in time suspension and awaiting final acceptance. The project includes pavement reconstruction, structures, pavement markings and signs.

FM 315 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From FM 3079 to FM 317
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $1.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The contractor currently performing edge work at various locations throughout the project limits. There should be no impact to traffic. The project includes pavement reconstruction, structures, pavement markings and signs.

BUS 19 Sidewalks

  • Limits: From Ben Belt Fr. To S Loop 7 ramps
  • Contractor: 3LW Civil, LCC
  • Cost: $2.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

The contractor is placing concrete for the sidewalks and driveways on the west side of the road. Motorists should expect lane closures while work is in progress. This project includes sidewalk and pedestrian lane improvements.

SH 19 Super 2 Project

  • Limits: From 0.3 Mi. S of FM 1861 (Van Zandt C/L) S to 0.1 Mi. N of SL 7 in Athens (Watson)
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $20.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor has begun cement treating for roadway widening in the southbound lane. The speed limit is reduced to 60 mph throughout the project limits. This project includes adding a passing lane in each direction at multiple locations. It also includes grading, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage.

BUS 31 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From BUS 19 to SL 7
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $8.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Late 2025

Nighttime operations are scheduled to continue this week. Motorists should expect lane closures. The project includes removal of current surface, base repairs, resurfacing, striping, and signage. Traffic should use caution when traveling through the work zone at night and expect pavement striping operations during the day.

SH 31 at Sawmill Rd.

  • Limits: Sawmill Rd.
  • Contractor: Striping Technology, L.P.
  • Cost: $342,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2025

The new traffic signal is operational. This project consists of installing a traffic control signal and pedestrian signal.

Rusk County

Henderson crews are scheduled to repair base failures and repair edges on FM 1798. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Contractor crews are also scheduled to trim and remove trees at various locations.

Rusk County construction projects updates:

US 84 - FM 225 East to CR 3155

  • Limits: FM 225 east to CR 3155
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company
  • Cost: $12.8 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: November 2025

This project consists of reconstructing US 84, extended structures, hot mix asphalt surface, new signs, and striping. This week, the contractor will be sealcoating the road. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures.

SH 315

  • Limits: US 259 to the Panola County line
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $13.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: September 2025

This project consists of widening pavement edges and installing space between the traffic lanes to separate opposing traffic for safety. Work will also include adding one passing lane in each direction of travel. This week, the contractor is scheduled to lay asphalt. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures. Crews will also perform striping and guard fence installation.

FM 2658

  • Limits: FM 1251 to SH 43
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction
  • Cost: $9.6 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: September 2025

This project consists of reconstructing FM 2658 completely, from CR 344 to FM 1251. Work includes a new guard fence, treating subgrade, base material, seal coat, and striping. This week, the contractor is scheduled place asphalt and sealcoat.

US 79 N

  • Limits: CR 344 to CR 333
  • Contractor: Garrett Shields Construction
  • Cost: $718,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: September 2025

This project consists of repairing slope failure in the TxDOT right of way. The site will be excavated, and a new embankment will be placed. This week, the contractor will be working on punch list items. Work will mostly be off of the roadway.

SH 43

  • Limits: FM 1251 north to FM 2658
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $21.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: September 2025

This project consists of milling approximately six inches off the surface and replacing it with new hot mix. The project also includes clearing the right of way, replacing driveway pipes, and striping. This week, the contractor is scheduled place final striping and working on the edge of the pavement. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Smith County

Tyler Maintenance crews are continue working on ditch and drainage issues. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Contract mowing is expected to begin on Monday, Sept. 15.

Smith County construction projects updates:

US 69 Rehab Existing Road and Restricted Crossing U-Turn (R-Cut)

  • Limits: Cumberland Road to .45 miles north of FM 346
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company, INC
  • Cost: $5.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

The contractor is scheduled to clean and seal the bridge joints at the Mudd Creek bridge. This work will be done during daytime hours. No lane closures are expected. This project consists of rehabilitating existing roadway and installing a restricted crossing U-turn (R-Cut) at FM 2813 intersection.

SH 31 Safety Improvements

  • Limits: Neches River bridge to 0.0508 miles west of Toll 49
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $3.85 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

The contractor has no work scheduled this week. Motorists should drive with caution in the work zones. The project consists of safety improvements, including installation of cable and concrete median barriers.

FM 2493 Widen Non-Freeway

  • Limits: FM 346 in Flint, south to 0.3 miles south of FM 344
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road LTD
  • Cost: $52 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

The contractor has scheduled daily lane closures from 8:15a to 6p from S. Kimberly Dr. to CR 150. Motorists should plan ahead and drive with caution. This project consists of widening the existing non-freeway roadway.

I-20 Bridge Maintenance

  • Limits: I-20 bridges over CR 35 (Lavender Rd); FM 14; SH 155; FM 3311; CR 353; US 271; CR 3101 (Barber Rd); CR 3116 (Philpot Rd)
  • Contractor: Olympus Painting Contractors, Inc.
  • Cost: $3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

The contractor has no work scheduled this week. This project is bridge maintenance, consisting of cleaning and painting existing steel bridge superstructures.

Pedestrian Sidewalks & Curb Ramps

  • Limits: Stewart Park to Peete Elementary
  • Contractor: Tight Line Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $870,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

This work will be at various locations throughout the Tyler city limits. The contractor will be pouring concrete and preparing to move to the intersection of Glenwood and Front Street. Motorists should drive with caution. Lane closures are possible. The project consists of upgrading pedestrian safety measures at various intersections.

Smith County Bridge Rehabilitation

  • Limits: Various locations in the Tyler city limits
  • Contractor: Tight Line Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to remove material beneath the US 175 and SL 7 bridge. This project consists of cleaning and sealing the existing bridge joints, asphalt work, resurfacing the bridge deck, installation of new metal beam guard fence, steel and concrete repairs.

I-20 Bridge Maintenance

  • Limits: Bridge locations between Smith and Van Zandt Counties
  • Contractor: Southern Bridge and Road, LLC
  • Cost: $3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, there will be temporary traffic lights installed on CR 496 at I-20. One lane will remain open at all times. Crews are also scheduled to work on the CR 496 bridge. This project is bridge maintenance consisting of cleaning and painting the existing steel bridge structures.

FM 16 Widening and Realignment

  • Limits: 4 mi west of FM 849 east to US 69 in Lindale
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $44.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2027

The project consists of grading, asphalt base, asphalt surface overlay paving, storm drain, bridge, and culvert structures, signing, pavement markings, and signals. A traffic shift is currently in place through town. Traffic will be in two lanes during this phase of construction. Embankment installation is ongoing. Crews are also scheduled to prepare surface for seal coat treatment. Bridge work is also ongoing. (This project is located in Smith County but is managed by the Mineola Area Office.)

SH 31 Resurfacing

  • Limits: From Henderson County line to FM 206
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $7.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2025

Overlay operations have been completed. Contractor will make any additional repairs if needed. The project is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The project includes prep row, base repairs, resurfacing, striping, and signage. Motorists should use caution when traveling through area and expect delays. (This project is located in Smith County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

Van Zandt County

Canton crews are scheduled to pick up debris at various locations throughout the county. Lane closures are possible, so watch for flaggers. Also, crews are scheduled to perform base repairs on FM 1504 in preparation for seal coat application. Crews will also continue herbicide operations.

Van Zandt County construction projects updates:

FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 Bridge Replacement

  • Limits: Bridge at FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 over I-20
  • Contractor: Indus Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $14.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: October 2025

This project is for the construction of a new bridge and approaches, grading, base and surface, and metal beam guard fence installation. Motorists should expect work zone speed limit reductions and shoulder width reductions on the I-20 main lanes. Motorists should also expect work zone speed limit reductions and shoulder width reductions on the I-20 frontage roads. On FM 17, crews are scheduled to place new asphalt on the westbound frontage road. The ramp will be closed to traffic. On FM 47, crews are scheduled to install the traffic rail and install flex base on the eastbound frontage road. Motorists should expect daily lane closures in this area. On FM 859, crews are scheduled to complete work on the concrete barrier and asphalt surface. New traffic configuration is scheduled to take place on Friday, Sept. 5.

FM 1255 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: I-20 to SH 110
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD.
  • Cost: $17.1 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2026

This project is for the rehabilitation of the existing roadway consisting of roadway widening, grading, rework base material, cement treatment, flex base, TCST, resurfacing intersections & driveways, extending cross structures, signs, and pavement markings. The project will be completed under traffic. Right of way prep and tree trimming are ongoing. Roadway rehabilitation operations and cross structure installation are ongoing pending weather. This work also consists of milling the existing roadway. Lane closures and speed zone reductions are expected. Motorists should expect delays.

I-20 WB Exit Ramp at SH 19

  • Limits: From WB exit ramp to SH 19
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD
  • Cost: $1.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2025

This project consists of ramp improvements. Crews have initiated construction on the drainage structures and frontage road alignment. Crews are scheduled to sealcoat over the new paved section, followed by striping operations. Closeout items will soon follow.

SH 64 at I-20 and SH 155 at I-20 Traffic Signal Installation

  • Limits: Intersection of SH 64 at I-20 and intersection of SH 155 and I-20
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $2.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

The project includes the construction and installation of traffic control devices including pedestrian signals. The SH 64 intersection striping layout has been completed. SH 155 intersection signals are complete and functioning. The frontage roads between SH 155 and Lawhon Ave. have been converted to one-way travel only. Major items and punch list items have been addressed. Project is awaiting final acceptance.

FM 1651 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: From SH 198 east to SH 19
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $10.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

Construction is still underway on the cross structures and headwalls. This project is focused on fixing and improving the existing road. Work includes widening the road, repairing the base, adding signs, and painting new stripes. Crews will finish groundwork in one-mile segments. Drivers should expect lane closures and slower speed limits in the area. Delays are likely, so please plan ahead. (This project is located in Van Zandt County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

FM 279 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: 0.24 miles east of FM 314 to SH 64
  • Contractor: Big Creek LLC.
  • Cost: $7.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Late 2025

The contractor is scheduled to perform edgework throughout the project limits. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area. Lane closures are in place. The project consists of pavement repair, grading ditches, drainage structures, asphalt, striping, and signage. (This project is located in Van Zandt County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

E Tyler St. at Mill Creek Bridge

  • Limits: Tyler St. at Mill Creek near the Canton Trade Days facilities
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $1.17 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2025

This project is for bridge replacement, new approaches, grading, and base repairs. The contractor is nearing completion and is working on closeout items. E. Tyler Street is closed to through traffic.

Wood County

This week, crews are scheduled to overlay on FM 17 between US 69 and the Sabine River. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Also, crews will perform edge work on FM 2088 from SH 37 to the Upshur County line. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Also, crews will apply herbicide at various locations and conduct bridge inspection and maintenance at various locations throughout the county.

Wood County construction projects updates:

US 69 Grade-Separated Interchange

  • Limits: From 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779
  • Contractor: Lamar Companies, LLC
  • Cost: $37.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project consists of grading, base, asphalt, drainage, structures, overpass, signing, and striping. There will also be curb and gutter work on the frontage road sections. Also, crews are preparing foundations for the retaining wall. Crews are scheduled to place temporary paving at the FM 779 intersection on the west side. Crews are also scheduled to work on the retaining walls. Motorists should be cautious of large equipment in the work zone. Lane closures are expected. Motorists should expect delays.
