AM Best Maintains Under Review With Developing Implications Status for Credit Ratings of Pillar Life Insurance Company

AM Best has maintained the under review with developing implications status for the Financial Strength Rating of B+ (Good) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of "bbb-" (Good) of Pillar Life Insurance Company (Pillar) (Harrisburg, PA).

The Credit Ratings (ratings) reflect Pillar's balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as strong, as well as its marginal operating performance, limited business profile and marginal enterprise risk management.

The sale of Pillar Life is taking longer to complete than initially expected; however, the transaction is anticipated to close in the near future. Forms have been filed with the appropriate state regulators and management has been in contact with the regulators to address any questions. The rating will remain under review with developing implications until the analytical team meets with the new management group to discuss the future direction of the company.
