FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"It's unfortunate that turnout in last night's Parks Levy vote was low. However, I'm glad that Portlanders who did vote made their voices clear: Parks are a priority in our community. And now together we have an opportunity to improve how our Parks Bureau operates so Portlanders see tangible results in every neighborhood. Portland Parks & Recreation should be a model of innovation, maximizing earned revenue while optimizing recreation programs and maintaining the assets we already have. We owe it to everyone who loves our parks to demonstrate-visibly and measurably-that we're improving our stewardship of these public spaces.
I'm committed to working with my Council colleagues, the Mayor's Office and Parks leadership to advance these priorities, and I look forward to collaborating."
