San Juan Regional Medical Center is excited to share the next chapter in weight loss and wellness. Our Metabolic and Bariatric Institute is now San Juan Health Partners Weight Loss & Wellness. The new name better reflects the comprehensive, patient-centered care the program provides while reinforcing our commitment to helping patients achieve lasting health and wellness.
While the name is changing, patients can expect the same exceptional care they have always received. The program's experienced providers, trusted support caregivers and commitment to outstanding patient outcomes all remain unchanged.
"The new name better represents the full spectrum of services we provide," said Dr. Philip Ernest, Medical Director and Surgeon. "Although bariatric surgery continues to be an important part of our program, our team also supports patients through medical weight management, education, lifestyle changes and long-term wellness. Weight Loss & Wellness more accurately reflects our holistic approach to helping patients improve their health."
The name change reflects the evolution of the program and its dedication to supporting patients at every stage of their weight loss journey. Whether patients are exploring surgical options, pursuing non-surgical weight management, or maintaining long-term success, San Juan Health Partners Weight Loss & Wellness offers personalized care designed to meet each individual's unique goals.
"Our commitment has always been about more than weight loss-it's about improving overall health and quality of life," said Meghan Ritz, PA-C, Program Director. "This new name aligns with that mission while making it easier for patients to understand the comprehensive services we offer to help them achieve meaningful change."
Since opening in May 2023, the program has quickly established itself as a trusted resource for patients seeking comprehensive weight loss and wellness services throughout the Four Corners region. In just over three years, we have celebrated numerous milestones, including performing New Mexico's first fluorescent-guided bariatric surgery. The program marked another significant achievement-the 100th bariatric surgery-on August 12, reflecting our continued growth and commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.

Patients currently receiving care through the program will continue seeing the same providers and care team, scheduling appointments the same way, and receiving the compassionate, expert care they have come to expect.
