WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released a statement applauding Louisiana for opting in to the upcoming federal school choice scholarship tax credit. Cassidy secured this provision in Republicans' Working Families Tax Cut bill that passed earlier this year. In October, Cassidy sent letters to governors across the country urging them to opt-in to the program.
"I worked with President Trump to add my school choice bill to the Working Families Tax Cuts, and now Louisiana families will benefit," said Dr. Cassidy. "We're helping parents choose the best school for their children. Thank you, Governor Landry for adding Louisiana to the list."
As Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Cassidy held a hearing earlier this year on how to reform K-12 education to put students and families first. He also led a resolution recognizing January 26 - February 1 as National School Choice Week.
