UPDATE: Downtown Portland Homicide Victim Identified

The victim in Sunday's homicide in Downtown Portland is identified as Taylor J. Ritter, 20, of Gresham, Oregon. His family has been notified of his death and provided the attached photograph for public release.

The Medical Examiner determined that he died of homicide by gunshot.

One Deceased in Downtown Portland, Homicide Investigation Underway

A homicide investigation is underway after police found a male deceased in Downtown Portland. On Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 4:23 a.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to a report of a person down on the ground in a parking lot in the 300 block of Southwest 3rd Avenue. When they arrived, they located a male. Officers summoned paramedics, who found he was deceased. Evidence at the scene suggests he was shot; however, the cause and manner of death will be determined later by the medical examiner.

The suspect or suspects left the scene before police arrived, and no immediate arrests were made.

Detectives from the Portland Police Homicide Unit are responding to the scene to investigate the case. During the investigation, Southwest Harvey Milk Street is closed between Southwest 3rd Avenue and Southwest 5th Avenue, and Southwest 4th Avenue is closed between Southwest Washington Street and Southwest Oak Street.
