Reminder: City Hall is closed, and nonessential municipal services are paused for Veterans Day today, Nov. 11. City Hall will reopen, and municipal services will resume their normal schedule tomorrow, Nov. 12. More information on this closure is available here.
The City of Hayward will also pause some non-essential services during the week of Thanksgiving.
Hayward City Hall will be closed from Monday, Nov. 24, through Friday, Nov. 28. City Hall will reopen Monday, Dec. 1, and City Hall-based departments will resume normal operations on that date.
Street-sweeping will also be paused during that time, with service resuming on each street's next scheduled service day beginning Monday, Dec. 1. More information on street sweeping is available here.
The Hayward Police Department's Customer Service Counter will be open Monday through Wednesday during the week of Thanksgiving, but will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28. The Hayward Animal Shelter will be open Tuesday, Nov. 25, and Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., but also will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.
The Permit Center will not schedule inspections between Monday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 28, and will resume upon staff's return to City Hall Monday, Dec. 1. Staff will process petitions, applications with required payment and resubmittals received by Wednesday, Nov. 19, before the business closure. Submittals and payments received between Nov. 20 and Nov. 28 will be processed beginning Dec. 1.
The Downtown and Weekes branches of the Hayward Public Library will be closed from Monday, Nov. 24, through Saturday, Nov. 29. Both branches will reopen on Monday, Dec. 1 (Hayward Public Library is closed on Sundays). Online check-outs of books, movies and more are available via the digital library 24/7 here.
