Update on Construction Projects in Lake Tahoe

Placer/El Dorado County - Caltrans is advising motorists of the continuation of several construction projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin next week.

Along State Route 28 (SR 28), construction on a $31.7 million pavement rehabilitation project continues. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka. Grinding and paving operations are scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect along SR 28 for the following dates/times/locations next week:

  • 7 p.m. Sunday, June 28 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 1 between Lardin Way and Agate Road. Work is not scheduled during daytime hours (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.).
  • Drainage work is scheduled along SR 28 from 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 until 7 a.m. Thursday, July 2 between Lardin Way and Agate Road.

Along State Route 267, a crack-sealing operation is scheduled in the Northstar/Martis Creek area with one-way traffic control in effect from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1.

Along State Route 89 (SR 89), preparation work for a pavement rehabilitation project is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect at various locations from 7 p.m. Sunday, June 28 through 6 p.m. Thursday, July 2 between the Nevada/Placer County line in Truckee and Alpine Meadows Road.

In El Dorado County along SR 89, paving operations are scheduled between the Alpine/El Dorado County line and the U.S. Highway 50 junction in Meyers from 4 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2.

A broadband project on SR 89 along the West Shore is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Broadband work is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect along SR 89 at the following locations/dates/times:

  • Sunday, June 28 through Wednesday, July 1 from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. between Homewood and the SR 28 junction in Tahoe City.
  • Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. between Spring Creek Road and Eagle Point Campground.
  • Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. between Meeks Bay and the Placer/El Dorado County line.

Motorists could encounter delays of up to 20 minutes at each location. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. No work is scheduled during the upcoming Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment and material availability, or other unexpected events.
