Senator Marshall: Dr. Fauci Threw Science Out the Window

Senator Marshall Joins Fox News

Great Bend - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), joined Fox News, Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy to discuss how medical experts were caught off guard by the COVID pandemic, the safety and efficacy of the COVID vaccine, and why Dr. Fauci's lies destroyed trust in doctors and the American medical system.

On whether medical experts had all the information when they were advising Americans on COVID:

"Well, Trey, nobody knew everything about COVID. Remember, this was first released under an emergency use authorization under special circumstances. So, all we knew was just the few handful of people that they'd given it to already. But certainly, this mRNA technology was brand new, so nobody really knew what some of the downsides were to this vaccination."

On whether doctors should have been recommending the COVID vaccine:

"Yeah, well Trey, I think this is why I so value the patient-doctor relationship. That this vaccine - like any medicine, there's pros and cons, there's risk and benefits. So, it definitely saved millions of lives - for people over the age of, say, 65, people with a medical problem, there's no doubt that this vaccine saved lives. But for otherwise young, healthy people, there was minimal risk to the virus and only one downside. And I think that, especially we saw early on studies out of Israel saying that young, healthy men, especially, were having a reaction to this virus; it was causing some type of an inflammation of the heart. And that kind of takes us to pregnant women - we had no idea about pregnant women, that not one pregnant woman was in that emergency use authorization study as well, and especially in the first trimester, we had no idea."

On what Dr. Fauci's lies did to the reputation of medical experts:

"Yeah, Trey, there's no doubt that he was drunk with power; he was drunk with his own celebrity status when all this was going on. And at the same time, he's covering up viral gain-of-function research, which he'd been funding for 20 years. So, he was telling his diary one thing and telling the American people another thing. He was sending texts to the CDC director, to the Surgeon General, saying one thing, but then telling the American public something else. And to your point, all he had to say is, 'Look, we don't know, but you should ask your doctor, and he or she can talk with you about the benefits and the risk of this particular vaccine.' The advice I gave my parents was different than the advice I gave for my children and grandchildren, as you can imagine. But Fauci threw that all out the window. He says he is the science; you should trust him; he knows what's best for everybody. And of course, we found that not to be true."
