On June 9, 2026, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) released the finalized Fusion Science and Technology Roadmap, building on an earlier version released in October 2025. Developed with input from at least 15 private companies, 10 national laboratories, and over 70 universities, the finalized roadmap consolidates the nation's priorities across research, technological development, infrastructure, workforce, and market readiness into a cohesive fusion strategy intended to support fusion pilot projects and bring commercial fusion power online by the mid-2030s. The resource, to be implemented by the recently established DOE Office of Fusion, aligns with President Trump's energy dominance agenda and DOE's Genesis Mission.
