Georgia DOT awards $96.5 million in March
ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 24 projects valued at approximately $96.5 million at the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in March. Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on April 2, 2026.
The largest single investment construction project, valued at approximately $20.5 million, proposes 0.55 mile of reconstruction and rehabilitation for a grade separation on State Route (SR) 21 at the Norfolk Southern Railroad #620272Y crossing located in Jenkins County. Additionally, the project includes construction of two bridges and approaches. This contract and five other construction projects total approximately $46.2 million and represent 48 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest resurfacing contract is valued at approximately $5.9 million. The resurfacing project proposes 17.15 miles of milling, plant mix resurfacing, and shoulder rehabilitation on SR 42 beginning west of SR 83 and extending south at SR 87 in Butts and Monroe counties. This contract and 13 other resurfacing projects total approximately $44.5 million and represent 46 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest safety contract, valued at $3.4 million, proposes traffic signal upgrades at various locations in Coffee County. This contract and three other safety projects total approximately $5.8 million and represent the remaining 6 percent of the total funds awarded.
The Award Announcement list for March (includes withdrawn and deferred projects). Bids for Design-Bid-Build projects were received on March 20, and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on April 2, 2026.
The Supplemental Award Announcement (includes previously deferred projects that have now been awarded). Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on March 13 and March 20.
The March awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2026, which began on July 1, 2025, to approximately $2.09 billion. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2026 will conclude June 30, 2026.
