Fifth annual Red Day breaks donor record, raises over $100K

Lamar University's fifth annual Red Day virtual campaign raised more than $110,000 this year, surpassing the university's donor goals and bringing together alumni and students in support of the university.

The two-day giving event held Sept. 18-19, encouraged Cardinals, alumni and the community to support academic programs, athletics, and endowments such as the LU Forever Fund. Lamar University Advancement set a goal of 500 donors and exceeded it with 610 total donors and 727 gifts.

"Red Day is a full-circle moment for our alumni," Annual Giving Officer Aron Arceneux said. "It's a chance to celebrate what they've achieved and help ensure current and future students have similar opportunities."

Since its inception in 2021, Red Day has become an integral tradition at Lamar University, giving alumni a chance to give back financially while recognizing the successes of current students. Donations can be directed to academic colleges, athletics programs, or endowments that benefit future Cardinals.

"Every gift, large or small, directly impacts students and the Lamar community," Arceneux said. "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make this year's Red Day a record-breaking success."

The university looks forward to continuing Red Day in 2026 and encouraging even greater participation from alumni and supporters.
