National campaign on October 15th raises awareness about the value of water
HARRISBURG - This October 15, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is marking the 12th annual "Imagine a Day Without Water," uniting with utilities, community leaders, educators and businesses across the country for a day of education and advocacy about the importance of water.
"This day highlights how essential water is to our well-being, our economy, our environment and our daily routines," said Ralph V. Yanora, PUC Commissioner and Co-Vice Chair of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Committee on Water. "The PUC works together with partners in the industry as we seek opportunities to expand investment in water infrastructure to ensure safe and healthy water in all communities."
The PUC, in partnership with the Value of Water Campaign, is working to raise awareness about the essential role water plays in our daily lives. For many communities, water infrastructure installed more than 100 years ago is now reaching the end of its life and now needs substantial repairs and reinvestment.
"Imagine a Day Without Water" unites individuals, communities, and policymakers to advance greater investment in water. This observance serves as a reminder that by establishing reliable and resilient water infrastructure we can make clean, safe water available for everyone in our communities today.
Everyone is encouraged to raise their voice in support of the awareness, action, and investment needed to ensure a healthy water future for all.
