Monthly art walks return to Cathedral City as CCTV features two remarkable district artists
The Perez Art District is celebrating the opening week of its highly anticipated monthly art walks, coinciding with the latest installment of CCTV's "Art in Cathedral City" series. Host Conrad Angel Corral showcases two distinguished artists whose galleries anchor the district's creative landscape: Lisa Loudin and Kathleen Struckoff.
Monthly Art Walks Return
Beginning this Friday, September 26th, The Perez Art District resumes its beloved tradition of 4th Friday art walks from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Dubbed the "SoHo of the desert," the district features over 50 established, mid-career, and emerging artists working in their studios and galleries throughout buildings A, C, H, and I, as well as the 68929 building.
The free, public event attracts collectors and art enthusiasts from around the world, offering visitors the opportunity to meet artists, view works in progress, and purchase pieces directly from creators. Many studios also remain open year-round from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Thursday through Saturday.
CCTV Spotlights District Artists
In his newest "Art in Cathedral City" episode, Conrad Angel Corral explores the creative worlds of two artists who exemplify the district's diversity and talent.
Lisa Loudin operates from Studio I-14, where she creates intricate pen and ink tree drawings that blend words with imagery. Her work operates on multiple levels - from a distance, viewers see representations of trees, but up close, words and creatures emerge to form the texture and detail of each piece. An award-winning artist who serves as co-president of the Desert Art Center, Loudin has earned recognition including Best of Show at the 2021 Joshua Tree National Park Exhibition and was featured in the California Arts Council's prestigious ACE 2023.
Kathleen Struckoff, known professionally as La Chica Art, brings bold impressionist oil paintings to the district. Working with palette knives and often painting en plein air, she captures urbanscapes and landscapes with a distinctive style that evokes comparisons to Edward Hopper. Her subjects range from iconic American cities and Route 66 scenes to intimate desert vistas, all rendered in vibrant, colorist compositions.
A Thriving Arts Destination
The Perez Art District continues to establish Cathedral City as a premier arts destination in the Coachella Valley. With its concentration of galleries, studios, and creative spaces along Perez Road, the district offers an immersive experience where visitors can witness the creative process firsthand and engage directly with the artists who make Cathedral City "Where Art Lives."
The September 26th art walk marks the beginning of a new season of monthly celebrations, with subsequent walks scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month through the year.
